In Telefutura action at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, former junior lightweight champion Carlos “Famoso” Hernandez returned to the ring for the first time since September of 2006 and had a tough go of it in winning a ten round split decision over journeyman Hector Alatorre in a sloppy lightweight bout.

Hernandez - who won by scores of 97-93, 96-94, and 93-97 – was the busier of the two fighters, but he was pushed throughout by Alatorre and had to deal with a cut and swollen shut right eye to get the victory and improve to 43-7-1 (24 KOs). Alatorre falls to 15-5 (5 KOs) in his third straight defeat.

In undercard action, Javier Castro stopped Harrison Cuello in three rounds, and unbeaten Ivan Popoca halted Brian Carden at 2:13 of the opening frame.
